Most modern digital limiters are designed to be sonically neutral, with maximum transparency and minimal coloration. In other words, they’re created to do one job (limit a signal’s level) without changing the overall sound too much or imparting any specific sonic signature. O cante do Alentejo já é património mundial e UNESCO chamou-lhe "exemplar"

Cinco minutos foi o tempo necessário para a UNESCO aprovar, esta manhã em Paris, a inscrição do cante alentejano na lista representativa do património cultural imaterial da humanidade. Paris ouviu os homens de Serpa.

A nomeação portuguesa foi considerada “exemplar” pelo órgão de avaliação da UNESCO – o chamado “corpo subsidiário” – cujos membros se declararam “unânimes sobre a qualidade desta candidatura”.

Portugal foi convidado a “intervir para partilhar a sua alegria” e 21 membros do Grupo Coral e Etnográfico da Casa do Povo de Serpa, todos homens, surgiram em palco nos seus trajos rurais, chapéus pretos e cajados, e cantaram , durante breves minutos, a canção Alentejo, Alentejo. Telemóveis e tablets despontaram um pouco por toda a grande sala da UNESCO, para registar o momento.

O cante é a terceira nomeação portuguesa a ser consagrada internacionalmente pela UNESCO, depois do fado em 2011, e da dieta mediterrânica em 2013 (uma candidatura apresentada em conjunto com Espanha, Marrocos, Itália, Grécia, Chipre e Croácia). A lista representativa do património cultural imaterial da humanidade existe desde 2008 e nesta reunião os delegados têm de analisar 46 candidaturas.

“É de salientar a importância destas duas candidaturas, a do fado e esta”, disse ao PÚBLICO o cantor Vitorino, presente na sede da UNESCO, em Paris. “O fado é muito solitário e individual. O cante é uma expressão colectiva – ele implica entre 18 e 30 vozes. É inclusiva. É muito atenta ao movimento social.” O cantor, que tem inscrito o cante no seu trabalho musical, acredita que o reconhecimento do mesmo como património da humanidade “vai eternizá-lo”.

Grammy Latino de Carreira atribuído a Carlos do Carmo!

O fadista Carlos do Carmo recebe ontém o Grammy Latino de Carreira, no Hollywood MGM Theatre, em Las Vegas, no Nevada, antecedendo a entrega anual dos Grammy Latinos, na quinta-feira.

Além do criador de "Canoas do Tejo", recebem igualmente um Grammy de Carreira, por "Excelência Musical", Willy Chirino, César Costa, o Dúo Dinámico, Los Lobos, Valeria Lynch e Ney Matogrosso.

Nesta mesma cerimónia, prevista para as 10:00 locais (18:00, hora continental portuguesa), recebem o Prémio do Conselho Diretivo da Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS) os músicos André Midani e Juan Vicente Torrealba.

Para homenagear Carlos do Carmo, a Rádio Comercial reuniu 35 artistas para cantar "Lisboa Menina e Moça".

Marcel Blum releases Soundplant 42 software sampler

Marcel Blum has released version 42 of Soundplant, the first major update since 2010 of the popular computer keyboard sound triggering program following a yearlong beta.

Soundplant turns the standard QWERTY keyboard into a playable instrument with ultra low latency, allowing the instant playback of any format sound files on 72 keyboard keys with no need for extra hardware.
Soundplant’s cult following continues to expand the $50 software’s diversity of uses. Hollywood engineer Ed Novick used it in his 2010 Academy Award-winning sound mixing on Inception as well as in The Dark Knight Rises, Moneyball, and other films. Surf rock band Man or Astro-Man? played their sci-fi samples with Soundplant; metal band Nile used it for exotic percussion. Morreu o guitarrista Manitas de Plata

Figura do flamenco tinha 93 anos.

Manitas de Plata, o guitarrista que popularizou a música cigana e o flamenco em França onde foi campeão de vendas, morreu na quarta-feira à noite, anunciou a sua filha Françoise. O músico estava internado num lar de idosos no Sul de França, onde morreu aos 93 anos rodeado pela sua família.

Ricardo Baliardo, conhecido mundialmente como Manitas de Plata, nasceu em Agosto de 1921 na roulotte da sua famíla em Sète, onde estava instalada uma importante comunidade cigana. O seu pai era negociante de cavalos e desde os nove anos que Ricardo tocava guitarra - sem saber ler uma única nota de música - influenciado pelo seu tio.

Mais tarde, quando já lhe chamavam Manitas de Plata, actuava em esplanadas da Cote d’Azur e entrou no círculo de amigos do poeta Jean Cocteau, dos artistas plásticos Picasso e Salvador Dalí e da actriz Brigitte Bardot. Picasso aliás, em 1964, terá subido ao palco durante um concerto e dito: “A arte deste homem é superior à minha”.

Através do fotógrafo Lucien Soergue, que o recomendou a produtores norte-americanos, foi para Nova Iorque onde actuou e triunfou no Carnegie Hall, como recorda a AFP. Era considerado o sucessor de Django Reinhardt.

Morreu na ruína. Dizia ter duas paixões - a música e as mulheres. Tocava com paixão e sempre viveu o dia-a-dia sem preocupações com o futuro. Ao longo da sua vida vários foram os que dependeram monetariamente dele - mulheres, filhos, tios, sobrinhos… Confessou ter tido várias mulheres ilegítimas, não sabia quantos filhos tinha ao certo, dizia ter tido entre 24 e 28 mas só reconheceu 13. Houve um tempo em que foi considerado o artista europeu mais conhecido no mundo, refere a AFP, deixando mais de 80 discos gravados e 93 milhões de álbuns vendidos em todo o mundo.
