Plogue updates sforzando to v1.933 free plugin SFZ Player

Plogue has updated the free sforzando plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows to v1.933.

 Changes in v1.933:

- Fixed SF2->SFZ sample offset and dummy regions.
- New generic parameter format support.
- Fixed High Sierra standalone preferences crash issue.

Changes in v1.911:

- Mac: New UI for retina displays.

sforzando is a free SFZ player. Advanced sample hobbyists now have a powerful tool to experiment and share instruments without relying on proprietary formats.

It is also possible to drop SF2, DLS and acidized WAV files directly on the interface, and they will automatically get converted to SFZ 2.0. Then, they can be edited.

Audacity updated to v2.2.0 free audio editor

Audacity, the free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing, has been updated to v2.2.0.

Major new features – (additional details in the Audacity 2.2.0 manual):
- Four supplied user interface themes, and customizability of themes for advanced users (thanks to James Crook and the Dark Audacity project).

- Playback of MIDI files (fully automatic on Windows; requires cooperating software synthesizer programs on macOs or Linux; special thanks to Audacity co-founder Roger Dannenberg and new contributor "pokechu22").

- Better organized menus.

- Help link buttons in many dialogs lead to the relevant manual pages.

Changed in Audacity 2.2.0:

- 198 bugs/annoyances in 2.1.3 fixed, most importantly:

- Improved recovery from full file system errors; in case of recording, Audacity 2.2.0 will preserve as much of the recorded data as possible.

- Complete support for macOS 10.12 (Sierra).

- Thorough update of the manual with new images, more hover texts, and more cross-references.

Audacity is a free wave (audio) editor.

Lesound - LS Levelator [FREE]

LS Levelator is an energy/loudness normalization tool for batch processing of large amount of files.

Description:

LS Levelator is an energy/loudness normalization tool for batch processing of large amount of files. This tool not only makes use of local energy variation but also takes into account the loudness model to enable a perceptually relevant normalization. The batch process is expected to help localization and broadcast professionals to render the speech dynamics more efficiently and effectively.

Main Features:

Automatic loudness/energy normalization batch processing

Innovative global dynamic normalization and segment based processing

Standalone application for Mac OS X and Windows

Free version is limited to process 10 mono files per batch

Processing Mode:

Simple: This is a traditional normalization w.r.t. the maximum peak level.

Static: This mode normalizes a signal from the average loudness to the target loudness, with constrains defined by the peak level. When “Segment Based” processing is enabled, it allows to apply respective normalization to the automatically detected signal segments.

Dynamic: Similar to Static mode, Dynamic mode further allows adjusting the loudness dynamics among segments. When “Global Normalization” is enabled, all segments detected in all the input files are taken into account for deriving the best loudness distribution.

Processing Options:

Suppress Noise : Prevent normalization in the automatically detected noise region

Segment Based : Treat automatically detected segments independently

Global Normalization : Derive loudness distribution from all the input files

Speech Enahncement : Coming soon
