Surge XT 1.2.0 update adds built-in oscilloscope & spectrograph

 

The free and open source hybrid Surge XT has been updated. Version 1.2.0 comes with various new major features in tuning, visualization and accessibility.

Featuring many synthesis techniques, a great selection of filters, a flexible modulation engine, a smorgasbord of effects, and modern features like MPE and microtuning. Surge XT is a wonderful tool. We love it. We think you will, too!

Surge XT now includes a built-in oscilloscope and spectrograph based on s(m)exoscope from Smartelectronix. Furthermore, Surge XT can now act as MTS-ESP provider (server), allowing the Surge XT Tuning Editor to provide tuning for all supporting clients in a session.

Polyverse Music releases Wider 2.0 free stereo widener + Spring Sale launched

 

Polyverse Music has announced the release of an updated version of its popular stereo widening plugin.

Wider 2.0 includes a low end bypass function, allowing users to exclude the low frequencies from the stereo widening effect, along with GUI scaling settings, mono and bypass buttons, improved stability and minor bug fixes.

Wider gives users the ability to expand the stereo image of any signal to an awe-inspiring amount of width. What makes Wider unique is that it is completely “mono-compatible”, meaning that any signal that has been widened will always remain in phase with itself, even if summed to mono.

Wider can be used to increase the stereo image of any signal up to 200% of full stereo for an extra wide, exaggerated effect.

Linda Audio releases Fuzzy free guitar fuzz distortion for Windows

Linda Audio has introduced a versatile guitar fuzz distortion effect plugin with some extra features. Available for Windows (VST/VST3), Fuzzy does not model any real hardware but it is capable of wide spectrum of fuzz distorted sounds.

Its range is from gentle fuzzy overdrive to complete rectifier mayhem. There are controls for input and output gain, boost gain and tone and there is a choice of two fuzz algorithms.

On top of that there is also 8-band graphic equalizer with optional automatic gain compensation allowing radically change the overall sound. Finally, gate with adjustable threshold is also available.

One of the most significant advantages of Freetakt is that it offers a lot of features that are typically only found in paid sampler plugins. For example, it includes a built-in sampler mapping and editor, script editor and a variety of effects. The plugin also has an intuitive user interface, like Kontakt, making it easy to use and navigate. Overall, Freetakt is an excellent alternative to Kontakt, especially if you're on a budget.
