Slate Digital releases Virtual Mix Rack effect plugin

Slate Digital has announced the release of the Virtual Mix Rack, a channel strip effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

    The ‘VMR’ includes four world class mix modules, including two classic equalizers and two versatile mix compressors, with more modules to be developed.

    The ‘VMR’ operates as a Virtual 500 series rack with hot-swappable modules, putting your whole processing chain in ONE WINDOW. This allows you customize your own channel strip, with signal flow following the modules, in any order you choose. Mix and match filters from different EQs. Chain an EQ before or after your compressor. Moving modules around is easy, fast, and creates no break in audio playback. Audition signal chains faster, easier, and in real time with the Slate ‘VMR’.

Marcel Blum releases Soundplant 42 software sampler

Marcel Blum has released version 42 of Soundplant, the first major update since 2010 of the popular computer keyboard sound triggering program following a yearlong beta.

Soundplant turns the standard QWERTY keyboard into a playable instrument with ultra low latency, allowing the instant playback of any format sound files on 72 keyboard keys with no need for extra hardware.
Soundplant’s cult following continues to expand the $50 software’s diversity of uses. Hollywood engineer Ed Novick used it in his 2010 Academy Award-winning sound mixing on Inception as well as in The Dark Knight Rises, Moneyball, and other films. Surf rock band Man or Astro-Man? played their sci-fi samples with Soundplant; metal band Nile used it for exotic percussion. Toontrack releases Metal Guitar Gods 2 for EZmix 2

Toontrack has announced the release of Metal Guitar Gods 2, a new EZmix pack for the EZmix 2 multi-effect mix tool for Windows and Mac.

    This expansion for EZmix 2 comes with guitar and bass settings directly modeled and EQ-matched from the personal tones of four of modern metal’s most interesting players: Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders), Jeff Loomis (ex-Nevermore, Conquering Dystopia) and Ryan Knight (The Black Dahlia Murder).
