Impact Soundworks has launched Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE, a completely free edition of the virtual electric guitar instrument for Kontakt that features the authentic sound of an American classic guitar.
Impact Soundworks Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE
Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE offers the majority of the full version’s engine and script features and includes one pickup (instead of three), 12 out of 24 frets, and the core sustain, palm mute, choke, and release noise articulations. Otherwise, there are no additional limitations. The FREE edition has the same amount of dynamic levels and round robins, the same performance algorithms, fret and string control, 30+ FX modules, and flexible mapping as the full version.
“We can’t wait to give all KONTAKT users a truly versatile, powerful, and free guitar library for their music,” said library producer Andrew Aversa. “There are many hobbyists, students, and aspiring professionals with limited budgets. Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE is the perfect first step into the Shreddage 3 ecosystem, and it doesn’t sacrifice any sample fidelity or depth.”
Shreddage 3 is a new family of electric guitar and bass sample libraries that succeeds Impact Soundworks’ groundbreaking Shreddage 2 series of virtual guitars. Beginning with Shreddage 3 Stratus, all instruments under this new brand will include the same realistic performance behavior, editing controls, modular mixer and FX rack, and other key features.
Ideal for both lead and rhythm playing, and just like the full version, Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE has multiple algorithms for MIDI playback covering different playing and voicing styles. This allows users to easily change how a riff or phrase sounds with just a single click. Custom chord strumming is also now available, adding the ability to write completely custom parts with any rhythm or chord imaginable.
Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE features:
One pickup (neck) out of three.
All dynamics, round robins, and up/down strokes.
Sustains, palm mutes, chokes, and release noises.
Fingered vibrato included.
Three octaves (12 frets) of playable range across 6 strings.
All other editing and tweaking controls from the full version.
TACT 2.0: Map and trigger every articulation any way you want.
CONSOLE: Modular FX rack & mixer with 30 modules.
The free download is available now for Native Instruments Kontakt 5.7 or higher (full version).
The voice behind It Must Have Been Love had suffered from health problems after undergoing radiation treatment for a brain tumour.

Marie Fredriksson, who as the singer of Roxette was one of the most recognisable voices in 1980s and 90s pop, has died aged 61 following a long illness.
Her family said in a statement to Expressen, a newspaper in her native Sweden: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone.”
In September 2002, Fredriksson had a seizure in her bathroom and suffered a cracked skull. A subsequent MRI scan revealed she had a brain tumour, and she was given a 25% chance of survival. She survived, but had health problems as a result of radiation therapy. She was able to perform until 2016, when she announced her retirement due to the effects of her illness.
Her partner in Roxette, Per Gessle, expressed his love for Fredriksson and her family, and said: “Things will never be the same.”
BOSS has introduced its new wireless personal guitar amplification system Waza-Air, a revolutionary new wearable, over-ear sound system for guitarists.
In BOSS Waza tradition, Waza-Air combines decades of expertise with cutting-edge innovation to present a breakthrough musical product that truly pushes the envelope.
Melding BOSS’s premium amp, effects, and wireless technologies with dynamic 3D sound and natural “amp-in-room” tone, Waza-Air delivers a unique guitar amplification experience that’s never been available until now.
BOSS Waza Air feat
While often necessary to avoid bothering others, playing guitar through traditional headphones offers a less-than-satisfying experience that lacks the depth and dimension of playing a real amp in a real room.
Waza-Air changes all that, restoring the natural dimension, resonance, and “moving air” feel to provide an engaging and inspiring monitoring environment for the player. An integrated gyro sensor tracks head movements as the user plays, driving sophisticated 3D algorithms that produce an immersive sound field with extraordinary spatial realism.
Waza-Air’s advanced ambience setups provide three realistic environments to play in. Surround mode places the amp in a virtual room, providing an immersive experience like playing a recording studio. Static mode provides natural spatial localization, where the combined amp and room sound continually changes depending on where the user moves their head. Finally, Stage mode places the user center stage, with the amp sound coming from a virtual backline behind them.
Waza-Air features tones and controls from the stage-class Katana amplifiers, with full customization available using the free BOSS Tone Studio app for iOS and Android.
Five amp types deliver tones from classic clean to high gain, plus a full-range voice that’s ideal for bass or acoustic-electric guitar. Over 50 effect types are available as well, including mod, delay, and reverb effects optimized for Waza-Air’s unique spatial experience. And with six onboard memories, users can store favorite setups and recall them with dedicated buttons.
BOSS Waza Air
In addition to providing a wireless connection to BOSS Tone Studio, Waza-Air’s built-in Bluetooth lets the user jam along with songs from their mobile device.
When used with Stage mode, the streaming music plays from the backline along with the amp sound, simulating a live performance environment. It’s also possible to remotely control volume and playback functions with a multi-function lever on Waza-Air.
All audio connectivity with Waza-Air is 100-percent wireless, allowing users to move and play in complete freedom. Advanced wireless tech from BOSS’s acclaimed WL series provides premium sound quality, effortless set up, and great playing feel with ultra-low latency.
The headphones and included transmitter also feature auto standby and wake functions, conserving the life of their built-in rechargeable batteries between playing sessions.
