Virharmonic releases Cello Freebie for UVI Workstation

Virharmonic has released Cello Freebie, a free cello instrument library for UVI Workstation, demonstrating the upcoming Bohemian Cello library.

Recording the Cello was an obvious choice after launching the Violin. We set about auditioning Cellists in Bohemia and found the perfect performer, Joseph. The Cellist not only had to be schooled in the Cello to a high standard, but had to sit perfectly with our existing performer, Ondrej, the Bohemian Violin. So Ondrej improvised on the Violin and allowed Joseph to join in to make music on the fly, the two performers complimented each other perfectly and the recording of the Cello commenced.

This Micro Library is a tiny snippet of the full Bohemian Cello, some samples you hear are included in the full release, like the Pizzicatos, on the other hand some samples are exclusive to this freebie.

Baboom, o novo site de música do criador do Megaupload, é português.

Serviço ainda está em fase de demonstração e tem apenas um álbum de Kim Dotcom. A empresa tem sede no Porto.

O extravagante Kim Dotcom, criador do site de partilhas Megaupload, apresentou nesta segunda-feira um novo serviço de música online, ainda em fase de demonstração e chamado Baboom. A empresa homónima por trás do site tem sede e uma equipa de programadores informáticos no Porto.

O Baboom foi lançado com um álbum de música electrónica do próprio Kim Dotcom. O site permitirá a artistas colocarem online música, vídeo e fotografias, de forma semelhante ao MySpace.

O serviço foi criado e é gerido pela Baboom Lda, uma empresa constituída em Maio do ano passado e que funciona na Avenida da Boavista. A empresa foi registada inicialmente com o nome Bonusinfinitus e alterou a designação para Baboom cerca de um mês e meio depois. O PÚBLICO tentou um contacto telefónico com a empresa, mas foi informado de que não havia ninguém disponível para responder a questões pelo facto de o site ter sido lançado nesta madrugada.

De acordo com a informação disponível no Portal da Justiça, a firma é de dois empresários da Azambuja, Rodrigo Miguel Guerreiro Teixeira Viana e César Manuel da Silva Malvar, de que não possível encontrar registo de actividades anteriores na área da informática. Tem como gerente Xavier Buck, residente no Luxemburgo e presidente de uma empresa de registo de domínios na Internet chamada EuroDNS.

O site está ainda em fase de demonstração e não permite aos interessados criarem as respectivas páginas. Trata-se de um de vários projectos recentes do milionário Kim Dotcom, um alemão radicado na Nova Zelândia que faz nesta segunda-feira 40 anos e que enfrenta a possibilidade de extradição para os EUA, devido às actividades do Megaupload, um serviço que tinha sede em Hong Kong e que era popular para a partilha não-autorizada de ficheiros.

Dotcom acabou também de lançar um partido político na Nova Zelândia, chamado Partido da Internet, e há um ano criou o Mega, um novo serviço de armazenamento e partilha de ficheiros.

A incursão pela música electrónica foi explicada numa entrevista recente ao jornal britânico Guardian: “Quando se tem uma família com cinco filhos, e se enfrenta uma acusação que pode significar 80 anos na prisão, não se está num bom estado mental. Mas por isso é que a música me ajudou. Quando estava no estúdio, tudo o resto se desligava”.

Na página daquele que é ainda o único álbum do Baboom, chamado Good Times, estão disponíveis 17 canções (para serem descarregadas gratuitamente ou ouvidas directamente), bem como vários vídeos e fotografias, muitas delas de Dotcom com a família.

u-he releases RePro-Alpha free synth plugin

u-he has announced the release of RePro-Alpha, a free researchware synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.

It is an excessively CPU hungry anti-optimized monophonic synthesizer, in essence a stripped down version of the Sequential Circuits Pro-One we're currently modeling.

The research part is, we have implemented the same pretty extreme model of the CEM3320 Curtis filter chip in our vintage Pro-One using 5 different numerical methods, each costing a very different amount of CPU. We wish for you to spot the "most analogue" sounding method. By that we wish to see if it is worth spending a lot of CPU or if we could get away with something cheaper.

Tritik updates Krush to v1.0.3

Tritik has updated their free bitcrusher plugin Krush to v1.0.3.
