Steinberg introduce Cubase BackPack limited edition portable recording system

Steinberg has announced the Cubase BackPack, a portable recording and production solution featuring Cubase Artist 7 and the UR22 interface that ensures a charitable contribution to sustainable development in Africa.

“With Cubase BackPack, we’re offering immediate savings on Cubase Artist and the UR22 audio interface,” comments Stefan Schreiber, product marketing manager at Steinberg. “But more importantly, by teaming up with Joint Aid Management, every purchased bundle supports a child in Africa with food for an entire month.”

Cubase Artist 7 includes eight VST instruments including HALion Sonic SE, the Padshop granular synth and Retrologue plus a suite of 43 audio and 18 MIDI VST effect processors.

The UR22 USB 2.0 audio interface boasts 192 kHz audio quality, with two TRS/XLR combo inputs, two TRS outputs, MIDI connectivity and a single headphone output for latency-free monitoring. Its two studio-grade D-PRE mic preamps provide switchable phantom power for using all types of microphones.

O músico, compositor e guitarrista norte-americano Lou Reed morreu, este domingo, aos 71 anos, desconhecendo-se a causa concreta, noticiou a revista "Rolling Stone".

Lou Reed, fundador da banda de culto Velvet Underground e que agora atuava a solo, marcou meio século do rock. Foi considerado um dos melhores guitarristas de sempre pela "Rolling Stone", alcançando a 81ª posição no ranking.

Casado com a artista Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed tinha sido submetido a um transplante de fígado, em maio.

Foi com a mulher que esteve pela última vez em Portugal, a convite do produtor Paulo Branco, para expor as suas fotografias e apresentar o documentário "Red Shirley", com o qual se estreou como realizador, no Estoril Film Festival, em novembro de 2010. Além da exposição de fotografias, intitulada "Romanticism", Lou Reed deu, na ocasião, uma aula de cinema, fotografia e artes marciais na ocasião.

O último concerto de Lou Reed, que atuou pela primeira vez em Portugal em 1980, recua a julho de 2008, no Campo Pequeno, em Lisboa. Antes, o ex-Velvet Underground, banda que deixou em 1970, tinha atuado em 1992 e 1998 (durante a Expo98) e em 2000.

Em 2011, o músico fez um álbum de parceria com o grupo de heavy metal Metallica, intitulado "Lulu".
