Toontrack releases Metal Guitar Gods 2 for EZmix 2

Toontrack has announced the release of Metal Guitar Gods 2, a new EZmix pack for the EZmix 2 multi-effect mix tool for Windows and Mac.

    This expansion for EZmix 2 comes with guitar and bass settings directly modeled and EQ-matched from the personal tones of four of modern metal’s most interesting players: Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders), Jeff Loomis (ex-Nevermore, Conquering Dystopia) and Ryan Knight (The Black Dahlia Murder). It’s a follow-up to the smash hit first pack in the suite, which was released in 2012 and featured Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah), Devin Townsend (Devin Townsend Project), Misha Mansoor (Periphery) and Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen).

    Metal Guitar Gods 2 EZmix Pack includes 50 custom amp and cab simulated tones, all of which were personally designed by the guitarists themselves. Find the soaring, saturated leads, the pummeling rhythm tones and all the tight semi-clean, ambient and effect soaked tones you’ll need for any spur-of- the-moment creativity.

    This collection is a speed-dial to the tones you hear on albums and that the artists use themselves in their own recording and creative processes. Now, you too can sound like a god.

Morreu o guitarrista Manitas de Plata

Figura do flamenco tinha 93 anos.

Manitas de Plata, o guitarrista que popularizou a música cigana e o flamenco em França onde foi campeão de vendas, morreu na quarta-feira à noite, anunciou a sua filha Françoise. O músico estava internado num lar de idosos no Sul de França, onde morreu aos 93 anos rodeado pela sua família.

Ricardo Baliardo, conhecido mundialmente como Manitas de Plata, nasceu em Agosto de 1921 na roulotte da sua famíla em Sète, onde estava instalada uma importante comunidade cigana. O seu pai era negociante de cavalos e desde os nove anos que Ricardo tocava guitarra - sem saber ler uma única nota de música - influenciado pelo seu tio.

Mais tarde, quando já lhe chamavam Manitas de Plata, actuava em esplanadas da Cote d’Azur e entrou no círculo de amigos do poeta Jean Cocteau, dos artistas plásticos Picasso e Salvador Dalí e da actriz Brigitte Bardot. Picasso aliás, em 1964, terá subido ao palco durante um concerto e dito: “A arte deste homem é superior à minha”.

Através do fotógrafo Lucien Soergue, que o recomendou a produtores norte-americanos, foi para Nova Iorque onde actuou e triunfou no Carnegie Hall, como recorda a AFP. Era considerado o sucessor de Django Reinhardt.

Morreu na ruína. Dizia ter duas paixões - a música e as mulheres. Tocava com paixão e sempre viveu o dia-a-dia sem preocupações com o futuro. Ao longo da sua vida vários foram os que dependeram monetariamente dele - mulheres, filhos, tios, sobrinhos… Confessou ter tido várias mulheres ilegítimas, não sabia quantos filhos tinha ao certo, dizia ter tido entre 24 e 28 mas só reconheceu 13. Houve um tempo em que foi considerado o artista europeu mais conhecido no mundo, refere a AFP, deixando mais de 80 discos gravados e 93 milhões de álbuns vendidos em todo o mundo.
